The Solo I for tuba solo
The piece is specially composed for my friend Sakda Pharchumcharna. The intention is to search for sounds, instrumental possibilities and compositional techniques in collaboration between the composer and the performer, such as the limited use of dissonance harmony, fast tonguing, and sustained melody. The musical characteristics of the piece are based on the performer's identity, as he’s always been an ‘aggressive-ready’ person. So, the purpose is to make the piece sound aggressive and rise up very fast. In contrast, he will be calm and cool when he feels that everything is as easy as the structure of the slower parts of the music. These differences of musical structure reflect his identity.
